Appearance & Grooming
The Havanese is a small, sturdy dog, moderately boned but not at all fragile. It carries its head high with a rectangular body and plumed tail and has a unique springy gait that sets it apart from all other breeds.
Coming in many colors and marking patterns, they have a silky and sometimes curly coat that can be brushed, corded or groomed and kept short
in a "puppy cut".

If kept long weekly brushing will generally keep them from matting. Use a good pin brush, have a good dematting rake, take your time, and start early.
Once pup knows its an attention splurge
it can be a relaxing experience for all.

Training & Activities
Spending time training during the first year will give you a well-behaved companion who is
bonded to its family. Start with a lead leash and teach come - the most important command of all.

Havanese excel in obedience, rally agility,
tracking and conformation competitions.
Happy and loyal companions the Havanese are also used as therapy dogs bringing joy to hospitals,
nursing homes and any individual needing
extra love and attention.

Known as Velcro Dogs, be prepared to share your life with this lovable breed - you are their family -
and they love hard.
